Climb 1 - May 29, 1989 - Memorial day

Debbie and I bought new boots and would go to one of the buildings on my college campus, climb it's 8 floors, go back down and repeat in preparation for our climb. But who could guide us up the mountain? Through our family we were introduced to the Teems. Ed and Linda Teem & Dave and Wendy Teem. Amazing caring people that we communicated with via phone and mail (pre-email and cell phones)

We drove our little 3 cylinder Chevy Sprint out to Colorado. It was so great finally being able to meet these families face to face after all these months had gone by. The Teems were/are truly gracious hosts!

It was Ed and Dave that took us up that day, Memorial Day. It wasn't by plan but my father had passed away at 25 years of age and on that climb both Debbie and I were 25 years of age.
